Edifier P12 Passive Bookshelf Pair

The Edifier P12 is a pair of passive bookshelf speakers designed for listeners who want to choose their own amplifier or receiver. They suit stereo music setups or home-theatre surround channels where an external power source is already planned.

Installation and Common Issues

Each speaker includes a built-in wall-mount bracket and speaker wire is supplied in the box. Because the cabinets are passive, they must be connected to a separate amplifier; forgetting this requirement is the most frequent setup mistake.

Practical Limits of Passive Operation

The 4-ohm nominal impedance and 40-watt power rating define how much clean output an amplifier can deliver before distortion rises. Frequency response spans 27 Hz to 120 kHz, so very deep sub-bass and extreme treble extension remain outside the usable range.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 19 mm silk dome tweeter and 4 inch bass driver are performing correctly after connecting to my amplifier?

Play a familiar track and listen for clear, detailed treble from the 19 mm silk dome tweeter and balanced low frequency response from the 4 inch driver with the bass reflex port enhancing bass output.

What is included in the box and what must I purchase separately to operate the speakers?

The pair of passive bookshelf speakers with built in wall mount brackets and speaker wire are included. An external amplifier or receiver and additional speaker wire for your layout must be purchased separately.

Which version of the P12 should I choose for a 4 ohm nominal impedance system?

The P12 passive bookshelf speakers are sold as a single pair with 4 ohm nominal impedance and 40 watt power rating, so this version matches a 4 ohm system directly.
