Outdoor subwoofer for distributed audio

The Gemini 144890 is a 6.5-inch outdoor subwoofer rated at 60 watts. It uses a wired connection and corded electric power supply. The black enclosure measures 120×120×25mm and carries an IP65 rating against dust and water intrusion. This unit is built for commercial and residential background-music systems that need low-frequency reinforcement in open-air environments.

Suits installers needing 70V or 8-ohm flexibility

The speaker includes transformer taps for 70-volt distributed lines and an 8-ohm tap for conventional amplifiers. The pan-and-tilt mount allows precise aiming into the listening area. Gold-plated binding posts accept bare wire or spade connectors. Buyers who require wireless streaming, battery operation, or a self-powered enclosure with built-in amplification should look at a different product class.

Sustained output in fixed installations

Under continuous programme material the 60-watt power handling remains stable thanks to the polypropylene cone and ventilated aluminium grille. The frequency response extends from 27Hz to 120kHz, so bass foundation is maintained during long playback sessions. The IP65 seal and rust-resistant grille prevent performance degradation when the unit is mounted permanently under eaves or near poolside moisture.

Questions about this item

Does the 6.5" subwoofer require a separate amplifier to operate?

Yes, the subwoofer is a passive unit with a 60W power rating and wired connectors, so an external amplifier with speaker-level outputs is required.

Can I connect this 70V/8-Ohm subwoofer to an older home receiver that only has 8-Ohm speaker outputs?

Yes, the unit features an 8-Ohm tap alongside the 70V taps, allowing direct connection to traditional home audio amplifiers.

How can I verify the subwoofer is reproducing the full 27Hz to 120kHz frequency response after installation?

Play a test tone sweep through the system and confirm audible output at the low end; the gold-plated binding posts and rust-resistant grille ensure a stable, lasting connection for accurate playback.
