Product identity

The Edifier R1280DB is a pair of powered bookshelf speakers finished in a wood veneer. They suit desktop listeners, TV viewers or turntable owners who want a compact stereo system with multiple wired and wireless inputs.

Installation and pitfalls

Controls sit on the side panel of the active speaker for volume and EQ adjustment. Connection is straightforward using the supplied cables for optical, coaxial or RCA sources, while Bluetooth adds a wireless option. The only common snag is remembering to select the correct input on the speaker when switching sources.

Interface limits

Optical and coaxial digital inputs accept standard PCM stereo signals but do not decode multi-channel formats. Bluetooth audio quality depends on the source device codec and range, typically up to about ten metres in open space. Analogue RCA inputs remain available for legacy equipment.
