90W 20V 4.5A AC Adapter

This 90W AC adapter delivers 20V at 4.5A to compatible ThinkPad X1 Carbon ultrabooks. It replaces part numbers such as 45N0236 through 45N0239 and 0B46994 through 0B47009. The unit is new and built for direct plug-in operation.

Sustained load behaviour

The adapter supplies continuous 90W output with over-charge, over-voltage, temperature and short-circuit protection active. It allows the notebook to run without a battery installed, reducing wear on the internal pack during long desk sessions.

Thermals, noise and power

Protective circuits limit temperature rise during normal use, keeping the brick within safe operating limits. No moving parts mean silent operation. The unit draws only the power required by the connected ultrabook.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the 90W 20V 4.5A adapter produce during all-day use?

The adapter includes temperature protection and short-circuit protection to manage heat safely, and as a sealed power brick it has no moving parts or fan, so it runs silently.

What must I already own for this 90W 20V 4.5A adapter to power my notebook?

You need a compatible ThinkPad X1 Carbon model such as the 344428U, 344425U, N3N25UK or any listed ultrabook, plus a working AC mains cable with the correct regional plug for the adapter's input.

Will this 90W 20V 4.5A adapter work alongside the original 45N0236 or 0B46994 charger I kept as a spare?

Yes, it shares the same 20V 4.5A output and matches part numbers 45N0236 through 45N0239 and 0B46994 through 0B47009, so it can replace or supplement the original charger without compatibility issues.
