Multi-Power Emergency Radio

The Emerson ER-7051 is a compact AM/FM/weather-band radio built for emergency preparedness and outdoor use. It receives NOAA alerts on the weather band alongside standard broadcast stations. A built-in 4000 mAh battery powers the unit and doubles as a power bank for phones via USB-A. The 3 W speaker delivers clear audio for news and alerts.

Hand-Crank Solar Charging

Four charging paths keep the battery alive: a dynamo hand crank, an integrated solar panel, USB-C input and three AA cells as backup. A rotary volume knob and direct-tuning dial provide tactile control without menus. An LED torch with its own on/off switch adds area light, while a loud emergency siren can signal for help. The package includes a USB cable and a hand strap for carry.

Weather-Band Only Limitation

The tuner covers FM 87-108 MHz, AM 520-1710 kHz and the NOAA weather band at 162.4-162.55 MHz, so it cannot receive shortwave, aviation or two-way radio traffic. The single 3 W mono speaker is adequate for voice but not for music fidelity. USB-A output is limited to the stored capacity of the internal cell, so it cannot sustain high-draw devices. The unit relies on ambient light or manual cranking when mains power is unavailable.

Questions about this item

What weather band range does the ER-7051 receive and how many NOAA channels does that cover?

The radio tunes 162.4-162.55MHz, which spans the seven standard NOAA weather channels used across the United States.

What are the exact dimensions and weight so I can check if it fits my pack?

The unit measures 6.02 x 2.05 x 0.77 inches and weighs 0.77lbs, making it compact enough for a glove box or small backpack.

How do I charge the built-in 4000mAh battery for the first time, and what is the common mistake?

Fully charge via the USB-C port before relying on the hand crank or solar panel; the mistake is expecting the crank alone to fill a depleted battery quickly.
