What it is

A three-pack of straight SATA III data cables with locking latches, each 6 inch long and coloured UV Red. They connect motherboards or host controllers to internal Serial ATA hard drives and DVD drives for expanded storage. The cables carry data only and do not supply power to the attached drive.

Sustained transfer behaviour

Revision 3.0 supports up to 6 Gbps, twice the bandwidth of the previous revision, and remains backwards compatible with earlier SATA versions. Actual throughput is limited by the rating of the connected equipment, so sustained speeds will match the slowest device in the chain. The locking latch on each end keeps the connection secure during continuous operation.
