PCIe USB 3.0 expansion kit with 3.5" front panel

The EN-Labs PCIEU3220KITSSU adds four USB 3.0 ports to a desktop through a single PCI Express x1 slot. A controller card based on the VIA VL805 chipset supplies two external Type-A ports on a full-profile bracket and a 3.5-inch front-panel module with two additional Type-A ports. The kit includes a low-profile bracket for compact cases and an internal 20-pin header cable to connect the front panel. Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7 and XP are supported with plug-and-play operation on recent versions.

Passive cooling and self-powered design

The card draws all required power from the PCI Express slot and features an integrated 2 A supply, so no external power connector is needed. With no fan or active heatsink, the board runs silently and adds negligible thermal load to the chassis. Each USB port carries independent over-current and short-circuit protection, keeping power delivery stable when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.

Full-profile and low-profile brackets included

A standard full-profile bracket fits typical tower cases, while the supplied low-profile bracket enables installation in slim or small-form-factor enclosures. The internal 20-pin header cable routes to the front-panel module, which mounts in a 3.5-inch drive bay for convenient front access. Four USB 3.0 ports operate at up to 5.0 Gbps and remain backward compatible with USB 2.0 peripherals. Builders needing more than four additional ports or a different internal header type will need a separate solution.

Questions about this item

How do I install the PCIe card and 3.5" front panel in my desktop?

Fit the card into any PCIe x1, x4, x8 or x16 slot, attach the 3.5" front panel to the case bay, then connect the internal 20-pin header cable between the card and the front panel; the kit includes both full-profile and low-profile brackets so choose the one that matches your chassis.

What maintenance or replacement will the card or front panel need over time?

No scheduled maintenance is required; the on-board 2 A power supply and per-port over-current protection are solid-state, so only a physical port failure or a future OS change that drops legacy driver support would ever require replacement.

What limit appears first when all four USB 3.0 ports run at full speed for long periods?

The shared PCIe x1 link caps aggregate throughput at 5 Gbps, so sustained transfers on multiple ports will hit that bus ceiling before the VL805 chipset or the 2 A power budget becomes a bottleneck.
