3.5 mm 90° elbow to MIDI 5-core DIN adapter
This 0.5 m cable connects a 3.5 mm stereo output to a standard 5-pin DIN MIDI input using a right-angled plug. It is built for musicians and studio engineers who need to link computers, portable players or audio interfaces to MIDI keyboards, synthesizers or sound modules. The 90° elbow reduces strain on tight panel sockets during stage or desk use.
5-pin discrete wiring and SysEx compatibility
The cable uses a full 5-pin discrete wiring scheme that carries every MIDI message type, including System Exclusive data, so parameter dumps and firmware updates pass through unchanged. It works with all standard MIDI 1.0 equipment but is explicitly not compatible with Jamstik devices, so owners of those controllers must seek a different adapter.
0.5 m length suits desktop and rack patches
At half a metre the lead keeps desktop and rack cabling tidy without excess slack, making it ideal for fixed studio wiring or compact live rigs. Longer runs of 1.5 m or 3 m are available separately if the gear sits further apart, but this short version cannot bridge wider stage distances or floor-to-rack gaps.

Questions about this item
Will the 90° elbow plug on the 3.5 mm end loosen or need replacement after frequent stage use?
The 90° elbow is moulded into the connector body; there is no serviceable joint, so the adapter is replaced as a single unit if the plug body cracks or the cable sheath frays.
What is the first limitation when the adapter runs a continuous SysEx dump from a synthesizer?
The 0.5 m length fixes the maximum distance between the 3.5 mm source and the DIN 5-pin input; signal integrity follows standard MIDI current-loop limits for that distance.
Does the 3.5 mm to DIN 5-pin adapter draw power or generate heat when left connected all day?
The adapter is a passive wiring cable with no active electronics, so it draws no power and produces no measurable heat during continuous operation.
