1.5 m SPDIF fibre-optic audio cable

This 1.5 m SPDIF fibre-optic audio cable carries 5.1 digital surround sound between a set-top box, TV, amplifier, sound card or CD audio player. The PVC jacket measures 4.0 mm in outer diameter and the connectors are gold plated for reliable signal transfer. Model AV122 is supplied new and ready to use.

Suited for single-link digital audio runs

Ideal for connecting one SPDIF-equipped source to one decoder where a 1.5 m reach is sufficient. Not for installations that need longer cable runs, multi-channel analogue connections or cables without gold-plated plugs.

Questions about this item

Will the PVC jacket on the 1.5 m cable need replacement if it cracks over time?

The PVC skin protects the internal fibre; if the jacket cracks the light path can be disrupted so the whole cable would need to be replaced rather than repaired.

What is the first limit reached when running 5.1 channel audio continuously through the gold-plated plugs?

The 4.0 mm outer diameter fibre sets the maximum bandwidth, so sustained 5.1 surround streams are limited by the cable’s optical capacity rather than the connectors.
