4MP H.265 Dome Camera for Outdoor Monitoring

The ESCAM QD420 is a single 4-megapixel network dome camera built for exterior surveillance. It captures a 2592 by 1520 pixel main stream at up to 18 frames per second and a 704 by 576 sub-stream at 25 frames per second. The 3.6 millimetre fixed lens provides a 75.7 degree viewing angle suitable for general coverage.

Fast Ethernet and H.265 Limit Throughput

Video travels over a 10/100Base-T RJ-45 port, so total bandwidth is capped at 100 megabits per second regardless of resolution. H.265 and H.264 compression with CBR or VBR bit-rate control help fit streams within that pipe. ONVIF 2.0 support allows integration with compliant recorders, though newer profiles are not guaranteed.

15 Metre IR Range Sets the Practical Night Limit

Twenty-four IR LEDs illuminate scenes up to 15 metres in darkness, defining the maximum usable distance after sunset. The IP66 housing and -10 to 60 Celsius operating range let the camera stay outdoors year-round. Buyers needing longer night vision or wider dynamic range should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 4MP main stream at 18 fps or the 3MP option at 22 fps for smoother motion?

Choose 4MP 2592×1520 at 18 fps for maximum detail, or 3MP 2048×1536 at 22 fps when a higher frame rate matters more than resolution.

What does the 4MP 2592×1520 @18fps figure mean for real-world recording smoothness?

It delivers 4-megapixel clarity at 18 frames per second, so motion is captured with high detail but less fluidity than the 25 fps sub-stream or 22 fps 3MP mode.

How does the RJ-45 10/100Base-T Ethernet port limit the camera’s network throughput?

The 10/100 Mbps port caps total bandwidth at 100 Mbps, so combined main and sub-stream bit-rates must stay below that ceiling.
