Adds four M.2 NVMe slots through one PCIe 3.0 x8 slot using the PLX 8747 switch chip
This PCIe 3.0 x8 add-in card uses a PLX 8747 switch to provide four M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs. It targets professionals who need maximum storage density in workstations or servers without relying on motherboard bifurcation. The card supports 2280 and 22110 form factors and operates on Windows 10, Windows 11 and Linux without driver installation.
The single specification that determines compatibility is the PCIe 3.0 x8 host interface. Your motherboard must provide an x8 electrical connection to run four drives simultaneously. Systems limited to x4 electrical lanes cannot utilize all four slots at full speed, making this card unsuitable for platforms without an x8 slot.
A large aluminum heatsink with precision fins and included thermal pads handles passive cooling for all four drives. An optional 4-pin PWM fan header allows active airflow when sustained workloads raise temperatures. A 6-pin auxiliary power connector ensures stable power delivery for quad-drive operation, while over-current and thermal protection circuits guard the hardware.

The PLX8747 switch delivers up to 8GB/s aggregate bandwidth shared across the four M.2 slots, maintaining consistent 3.5GB/s per drive throughput without motherboard bifurcation.
The adapter uses PCIe 3.0 switching with dynamic lane allocation, presenting each NVMe drive as a full x4 link while the host sees a single x8 connection.
It occupies one PCIe x8 slot with a reinforced edge connector, requires a 6-pin auxiliary power connector, and includes an aluminum heatsink with thermal pads for each slot.
