USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable for 8K displays

This 3.3 ft cable connects a USB-C source that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode to a DisplayPort 1.4 monitor. It is built for users who need 8K resolution at 60 Hz or high-refresh 4K and 2K output from a laptop, tablet or desktop with a compatible USB-C port. The male-to-male design uses solid copper conductors and triple shielding.

DisplayPort 1.4 bandwidth limits at 32.4 Gbps

The DisplayPort 1.4 interface caps total bandwidth at 32.4 Gbps. To reach 8K at 60 Hz with 10-bit HDR the cable relies on DSC 1.2 compression up to 3:1. Without a source and sink that both implement DSC the highest uncompressed modes fall to lower resolutions or refresh rates. HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 are supported for protected content.

Requires USB-C DP Alt Mode on the host

The single specification that decides compatibility is whether the USB-C port on your computer or tablet implements DisplayPort Alternate Mode. If the port only carries USB data or Thunderbolt without DP Alt Mode the cable will not deliver video. Check the host documentation before purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I pick this 3.3 ft length or a longer cable for my desk setup?

This model is supplied at 3.3 ft. Choose it if your USB-C source sits close to the DisplayPort monitor; a longer run would need a different cable length.

What does the 8K 60 Hz rating actually deliver on my monitor?

The cable carries DisplayPort 1.4 HBR3 bandwidth up to 32.4 Gbps, enabling 7680x4320 at 60 Hz with 10-bit HDR or 3840x2160 at 144 Hz when both host and display support those modes.

How does the USB-C to DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode connection limit what I can plug in?

The USB-C end must provide DP Alt Mode; the cable is unidirectional from a USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 or 4 host to a DisplayPort 1.4 monitor and will not work from a DP source to a USB-C display.
