Two-pack 2.5″ SATA enclosures

This twin-pack supplies a pair of black ABS plastic enclosures that accept 2.5-inch SATA hard drives or solid-state drives up to 9.5 mm thick. Each unit connects through a Micro-USB 3.0 port and is ready to use without drivers on Windows 8 and later, making it a simple way to turn spare laptop drives into external storage.

Builders with 7 mm or 9.5 mm drives

The enclosures fit standard 7.0 mm and 9.5 mm SATA drives from major brands, but they will not accommodate thicker 12.5 mm or 15 mm models. Users who need tool-free drive swaps or support for larger-capacity 3.5-inch drives should consider a different form factor.

UASP acceleration under sustained load

When paired with a SATA III SSD on a USB 3.0 host, the UASP protocol can add roughly 10 to 20 percent throughput over bulk-only transfers during long copy sessions. After three minutes of inactivity the drive enters sleep mode to reduce wear, and it spins down immediately on safe removal, helping mechanical drives stay cooler over extended use.
