HDMI-to-dual-SDI converter for broadcast workflows

This ESTONE HDMI2SDI unit accepts a single HDMI 1.3a source and produces two simultaneous SDI outputs. It handles 480i through 1080p60 input formats and auto-detects whether each SDI port should carry SD-SDI, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI. The converter is aimed at engineers who need to feed professional SDI monitors or recorders from an HDMI camera or switcher.

Power adapter and manual simplify first use

A 5 V external power supply is included so the device runs without drawing current from the HDMI source. The quick-start manual walks through the automatic format detection, eliminating the need for DIP-switch configuration. Embedded audio up to eight channels at 24-bit/48 kHz passes through both SDI streams in sync with video.

Compact metal enclosure installs in minutes

The 5.83 by 4.49 by 2.44 inch chassis weighs 7.8 ounces and fits on a desktop or in a rack shelf without brackets. BNC connectors lock securely, preventing accidental disconnects during long cable runs. The only common issue is forgetting that the converter is one-way; it cannot accept an SDI signal and output HDMI.

Questions about this item

Will the built-in ESD protection circuitry need any maintenance or replacement over time?

The built-in ESD protection circuitry is designed to prevent electrostatic damage during normal operation and does not require scheduled maintenance or replacement.

What is the first limit reached when running the converter continuously at 1080p 60Hz with embedded audio?

The primary limit is the 2.97 Gbit/s bit rate ceiling of the 3G-SDI outputs, which caps resolution at 1080p 60Hz and cannot be exceeded.

How much heat or noise does the unit produce when powered all day without an external power supply?

The compact 5.83 x 4.49 x 2.44 inch enclosure runs silently with no fan; heat stays low because the device draws power directly from the HDMI source.
