ESTONE HY-5001 Audio Extractor

The ESTONE HY-5001 extracts audio from an HDMI source and sends video onward to a display. It provides both optical Toslink SPDIF and RCA stereo analogue outputs for connection to soundbars, receivers or powered speakers.

Suits setups needing separate audio paths

This unit fits installations where a source device carries combined audio and video but the display and audio system require separate feeds. It does not suit users who need multi-channel analogue outputs beyond stereo or who require HDMI switching between several sources.

Simple inline installation

Connect the source to the HDMI input, the display to the HDMI output and the audio system to either the optical or RCA ports using the included 5 V power adapter. Select the required audio mode — PASS, 2.0CH or 5.1CH — via the switch on the unit. The only common issue is forgetting to match the audio mode to the connected equipment, which can result in no sound or incorrect channel mapping.

Questions about this item

What HDMI source devices can I connect to the HY-5001's single HDMI input?

The HDMI input accepts Blu-ray players, DVD players, HD players, cable or satellite boxes, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, PS3/4 Pro, Xbox, PC or laptop, HD cameras, Chromecast, Fire Stick, Roku and HD DVR devices.

Will the extractor pass video through to my existing 1080p display without downgrading the signal?

Yes, the HDMI output supports a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080, so a Full HD TV, monitor or projector receives the video unchanged while audio is separated.

How can I confirm the audio mode switch is set correctly after I connect everything?

Set the three-position switch to PASS, 2.0CH or 5.1CH to match your sound system; the correct setting produces audio from both the optical Toslink SPDIF and RCA L/R stereo outputs simultaneously.
