HDMI Audio Extractor OZV8

The ESTONE OZV8 extracts audio from a single HDMI source and delivers it simultaneously through optical Toslink and 3.5 mm analogue outputs while passing the video signal onward to a display. It suits owners of soundbars, amplifiers or headphones that lack HDMI inputs but need sound from consoles, media players or set-top boxes.

18 Gbps HDMI 2.0 Bandwidth

The splitter handles 18 Gbps throughput with HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 compliance, making 4K resolution at 60 Hz the decisive specification for compatibility. Sources and sinks must both support that rate; otherwise the link falls back to lower resolutions such as 1080p or 720p.

EDID Switch Selects Output Mode

A three-position EDID switch chooses between Pass, 2-channel and 5.1-channel audio formats before the signal leaves the extractor. Selecting the correct mode prevents handshake errors that would otherwise mute the optical or analogue outputs during extended viewing sessions.

Questions about this item

What does 4K at 60 Hz mean when I connect this extractor to my TV and sound system?

The extractor passes 3840 x 2160 video at 60 frames per second to the display while simultaneously sending audio to optical or 3.5 mm outputs.

How does the HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 interface limit what I can play?

The 18 Gbps bandwidth caps video at 4K 60 Hz with 24, 30 or 36 bit colour; protected 4K streams require both source and display to support HDCP 2.2.

What physical space and connections do I need to install the OZV8?

The unit measures 5.59 x 3.15 x 1.26 inches and needs one HDMI input, one HDMI output, plus either optical or 3.5 mm audio cables and the included 5 V power adapter.
