USB 3.0 to SATA IDE Converter

The ESTONE USB 3.0 to SATA/IDE adapter connects 2.5" or 3.5" SATA and IDE drives to a computer through a USB port. It suits technicians and home users who need to duplicate, copy, backup or transfer data from legacy or current hard disks and solid-state drives. The device works with Windows, Mac OS and Linux systems.

Included 12V 2A Power Adapter and USB 3.0 Cable

A 12V 2A power adapter supplies the necessary current for 3.5" drives that cannot run on bus power alone. The supplied USB 3.0 cable links the converter to the host at up to 5 Gbps and remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports. Both items are in the box so no separate purchase is required.

SATA II and Dual IDE Connectors with Power Switch

The unit provides one SATA II connector plus 40pin and 44pin IDE headers, allowing three drives to be accessed simultaneously or data to move among them. A built-in power switch lets you spin drives down without unplugging cables, and an LED indicator shows working status. The black plastic housing keeps the connectors aligned for repeated insertion.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 V 2 A power adapter need replacing if it fails?

The adapter ships with a 12 V 2 A power supply; if it fails you would need a replacement with the same voltage and current rating.

Does the USB 3.0 interface limit sustained transfer speeds below the drive's own capability?

The adapter tops out at 5 Gbps over USB 3.0, so faster SATA drives will be bottlenecked by that link during long transfers.

Does the adapter generate noticeable heat or fan noise during all-day operation?

The unit has no fan and relies on passive cooling; it may become warm during continuous use but produces no audible noise.
