Connects USB devices to VGA displays for multi-monitor setups, supporting 1920x1080 at 60 Hz via USB 3.0 and 800x600 at 60 Hz via USB 2.0 without external power
This USB 3.0 to VGA adapter connects a USB-equipped laptop or desktop to a VGA monitor, projector or TV. It enables a multi-monitor configuration for extended desktop, split-screen work or mirrored display. The device draws power directly from the USB port so no external adapter is needed. Its compact form factor makes it easy to carry in a laptop bag.
On a USB 3.0 connection the adapter supports up to 1920x1080 at 60 Hz. When plugged into a USB 2.0 port the maximum drops to 800x600 at 60 Hz. The link is therefore bound by the host port version; a USB 2.0 host cannot drive the higher resolution. No driver disc is required for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10.
The 1080p60 ceiling over USB 3.0 handles standard business applications, web browsing and video playback across a second screen. It runs out of bandwidth for higher refresh rates, greater pixel counts or colour-critical workflows that demand more than the USB 3.0 link can deliver. The USB 2.0 fallback is only suitable for basic static content.

Use a USB 3.0 port to reach 1920x1080 at 60 Hz; on USB 2.0 the same adapter is limited to 800x600 at 60 Hz.
It means the external VGA monitor can display full HD resolution at a smooth 60 Hz refresh rate, provided the host has a USB 3.0 port.
The USB 3.0 link supports up to 1920x1080 at 60 Hz; if the host only offers USB 2.0 the adapter falls back to 800x600 at 60 Hz.
