What the cable does

This ESTONE USB4 cable carries 40Gbps data, 240W power and 8K@60Hz video over a USB‑C to USB‑C link. It suits owners of laptops, desktops, monitors or consoles that need a single lead for charging, fast file moves and high‑resolution display output.

Practical limits of the USB4 link

Bandwidth reaches 40Gbps only on USB4 Gen3 or Thunderbolt 3 ports; on Gen2 ports it falls to 20Gbps. Video output requires the host port to support DisplayPort Alternate Mode, and charging tops out at 240W only when both charger and device implement PD3.1 at 48V/5A.

The spec that decides fit

The cable is rated for 40Gbps, 240W and 8K@60Hz simultaneously, so it works only when the host, peripheral and any dock all support those peaks. Buyers whose gear tops out at lower speeds or wattages will not gain the advertised performance.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 1-metre grey cable or a different length or colour?

The cable supplied is 1 metre long and grey; no other lengths or colours are offered for this model.

Will I actually see 40 Gbps transfer speeds when I plug this cable into my laptop?

The cable is rated for up to 40 Gbps, but the real-world speed depends on the host port — USB4 Gen3 ports can reach 40 Gbps, while USB4 Gen2 ports top out at 20 Gbps.

Does the Thunderbolt 3 label limit what I can connect compared with a Thunderbolt 4 cable?

This cable works with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 and USB4 hosts, delivering the same 40 Gbps bandwidth, 240 W charging and 8K video on any of those interfaces.
