An aluminum KM switch shares four USB 3.0 peripherals between two computers at up to 5 Gbps with push-button or automatic switching and optional USB-C power
This aluminum KM switch lets two computers share four USB 3.0 peripherals such as keyboards, mice, printers, scanners, card readers and flash drives. It removes the need to repeatedly unplug and reconnect cables when moving between systems. The device is aimed at desk setups where a single keyboard and mouse must control multiple PCs. Users who need to share video outputs or more than four USB ports will need a different solution.
The package includes two USB 3.0 cables for the host connections and one USB-C to USB-A cable for the optional 5 V power input. Supplying external power allows the switch to support higher-draw devices such as portable SSDs, hard drives, USB cameras and headphones. Without the extra power the switch relies on bus power alone, which may limit the number or type of peripherals that operate reliably.
The switch works on a plug-and-play basis with no driver installation required. Users can change the active computer by pressing the front button or by relying on the automatic switching that detects the powered-on system. An indicator light shows which port is currently selected. If a computer enters a deep sleep state the automatic detection may not trigger, requiring a manual button press to restore control.

The switch is a simple mechanical button rated for repeated daily presses, while the USB-C power port sees only occasional insertion; neither component has a published cycle rating, so neither is flagged as a scheduled replacement item.
The shared upstream link caps at 5 Gbps, so simultaneous heavy traffic on the four downstream ports will hit that aggregate bandwidth limit before any individual device saturates its own connection.
The alloy housing is designed to dissipate heat passively; with no active cooling and a low-power switching circuit, it remains at safe temperatures during continuous all-day use.
