S101Q 256GB SATA SSD

The FANXIANG S101Q is a 2.5 inch internal solid state drive with 256GB capacity. It uses a SATA III interface and 3D NAND QLC memory with an SLC cache. Sequential read reaches up to 530 MBps and write up to 450 MBps. The drive targets users upgrading older laptops or desktops from mechanical hard drives.

Fits 7mm bays and SATA ports

The 7.00mm height fits standard 2.5 inch drive bays in laptops, desktops and all-in-one systems. A SATA III 6Gbps port is required and the drive is backward compatible with SATA II. No heatsink is included so airflow in the chassis handles cooling. The SATA connection frees an M.2 slot for other uses.

Suits everyday workloads

The 80TB TBW rating and 1,500,000 hour MTBF support typical office, web and media tasks on Windows, Linux or Mac OS. Heavy write workloads such as video editing or large database work may exceed the QLC endurance. Users needing higher sustained writes should consider a drive with TLC memory and a larger TBW figure.

Questions about this item

At what point does the 80 TBW endurance rating limit sustained write workloads?

The 80 TBW rating means the drive is warranted for up to 80 terabytes of total data written; heavy workloads that exceed this over the warranty period will reach the endurance limit first.

How much power does the 2.5 inch SATA SSD draw and how hot does it get when running all day?

The drive operates between 0 °C and 70 °C without a heatsink; typical SATA SSDs of this class draw only a few watts, so heat and noise stay low during continuous use.

Which SATA cable and drive bay does my laptop or desktop need for this 7 mm 2.5 inch drive?

You need a standard SATA III data cable, a SATA power connector, and a 2.5 inch bay or caddy that accepts a 7 mm height drive.
