DC 7.4 x 5.0mm to USB-C adapter
This adapter converts a Dell 7.4 x 5.0mm barrel jack into a USB-C male plug capable of delivering up to 65W of power. It is intended for owners of compatible Dell XPS and Latitude 5000 laptops who want to use an existing DC power brick with a USB-C device. The cable measures 17.4cm and weighs 0.02kg.
Check your DC brick and laptop power ratings
The input voltage range is 15V to 20.5V and the output supports 5V, 9V and 20V PD profiles up to 3.25A. Your DC power brick must supply at least as much wattage as the laptop requires; a 45W brick cannot run a 65W or 90W system. Verify that the laptop’s rated voltage and current fall within the adapter’s output limits before connecting.
Replaces a proprietary barrel charger with USB-C PD
The adapter upgrades a legacy Dell barrel connector to a standard USB-C Power Delivery interface, letting one brick charge laptops, tablets and phones that accept up to 65W. The jump is worth it when you already own a sufficient Dell DC supply and need USB-C flexibility without buying a new multi-port charger. It will not work for laptops demanding more than 65W.

Questions about this item
Does the package include a power brick or only the 17.4 cm adapter cable?
Only the adapter cable is included; you must supply a Dell DC 7.4 x 5.0 mm power brick rated above your laptop’s requirement.
Should I choose this adapter for a 45 W, 65 W or 90 W Dell laptop?
It supports up to 65 W output, so it works with 45 W and 65 W models; a 90 W laptop would exceed the limit.
What does the 65 W rating mean when I plug this into my XPS or Latitude 5000?
The adapter can deliver 20 V at 3.25 A (65 W) provided the connected DC brick supplies at least 65 W and 15–20.5 V input.
