Two-pack reversed fan-out cables connect a SATA host controller to a SAS 36-pin SFF-8087 backplane with four SATA 7-pin connectors
This two-pack provides Mini SAS 36-pin SFF8087 male connectors wired to four SATA 7-pin female ports each. The reverse pinout connects a SATA-based host controller to a SAS-compatible drive backplane. Copper conductors maintain signal integrity for high-speed storage traffic. The cables suit RAID adapters and enterprise server chassis that require this specific target-to-host orientation.
Standard cables wire the Mini SAS end as the host and the SATA ends as targets, which prevents a SATA controller from driving a SAS backplane. These reversed cables solve that mismatch without adapters or backplane replacement. The jump is worth it when the controller only offers SATA ports but the chassis or expander presents a Mini SAS 8087 target interface. Builders whose controllers already expose Mini SAS host ports do not need this reversed pinout.
Each SATA 7-pin link is bound by the SATA revision implemented in the host controller and the backplane, so throughput cannot exceed that generation's ceiling. The Mini SAS 36-pin SFF8087 connector aggregates four lanes but carries no sideband management signals itself; enclosure services depend on the backplane and controller firmware. Cable length and routing inside a dense server can affect signal quality at higher SATA speeds, so keep runs as short as the chassis allows.

The straight SFF8087 male plug requires enough rear depth for the latch to engage fully; allow at least the connector body length plus cable bend radius behind the backplane.
The four SATA 7‑pin female ends connect to the host controller ports; the single SFF8087 male end connects to the SAS backplane.
Replace the cable if the latch tabs break, pins bend, or intermittent drive drops appear during array rebuilds.
