Extends a U.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 link with a 68-pin SFF-8639 male-to-female adapter for 2.5-inch storage at up to 8 GB/s
This Fervit adapter extends a U.2 SFF-8639 connection using a 68-pin male-to-female interface. It supports NVMe SSDs built for 2.5-inch drive bays that carry PCI Express signals. The board provides a straight-through link for host-to-drive cabling.
The part fits systems where the U.2 port cannot reach the drive location directly. It carries PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 signals without protocol conversion. Builders whose chassis or backplane already positions the drive at the connector gain no benefit from adding this extension.
The adapter passes PCI Express 4.0 lanes for a data rate up to 8 GB/s and falls back to 4 GB/s on PCI Express 3.0 hosts. This single bandwidth figure determines whether the extension meets the performance target of the installed NVMe drive.

The adapter passes the full PCIe 4.0 x4 link, so an NVMe U.2 drive can sustain up to 8 GB/s provided the host slot and drive both support revision 4.0.
No, the SFF-8639 68-pin interface carries the complete PCIe 4.0 x4 signal, so the 8 GB/s ceiling is maintained when both ends are revision 4.0.
The low-profile PCBA adds only the length of the board itself; it plugs inline between the drive and host connector without extra brackets or drive-bay screws.
