Bi-directional SFP module delivers up to 155 Mbps over 80 km of single-mode fibre using Tx 1490 nm and Rx 1550 nm wavelengths
This bidirectional SFP transceiver transmits at 1490 nm and receives at 1550 nm over single-mode fiber, delivering up to 155 Mbps across distances of 80 km. It conforms to the SFP multi-source agreement and the IEEE 802.3 ah 100Base-BX-U standard, making it suitable for Ethernet, SDH STM-1, SONET OC-3 and FTTx deployments. The module operates from a single 3.3 V supply and uses a simplex LC connector.
Rated for commercial temperature range, the module maintains its 125 Mbps or 155 Mbps line rate continuously across the full 80 km span without the short-burst limitations seen in some lower-cost optics. Built-in SFF-8472 diagnostic monitoring reports real-time temperature, voltage and optical power, allowing operators to verify link health under constant load. Hot-pluggable insertion avoids service interruption during replacement or capacity upgrades.
The 80 km reach is the practical limit of this wavelength pair on standard single-mode fiber; longer spans would require different optics such as the 120 km variants listed by the manufacturer. Before deployment, the host equipment brand and model must be supplied so the correct vendor coding can be programmed, otherwise the switch or router may reject the module. This coding step is mandatory for every installation.

It operates from a single 3.3 V supply and complies with SFP MSA limits for 125/155 Mbps transceivers, keeping heat output low for all-day operation.
A standard SFP cage with an LC simplex receptacle and a 2-wire SFF-8472 management interface is required for the hot-pluggable module to link at 125/155 Mbps.
No, the paired wavelength and 80 km reach require a matching 80 km module with the opposite TX/RX wavelengths on the far end for a compliant 100Base-BX-U link.
