Blue Polyester Plating Tape

FindTape SPT-3M is a thin, single-coated polyester film tape with a silicone adhesive designed for printed circuit board production. It resists fumes and chemicals while leaving minimum residue on removal. The blue backing allows visibility of circuitry after masking for accurate placement. It will not split or break during application or removal.

PCB Assembly and Plating Operations

This tape suits manufacturers masking boards during tin/lead stripping and gold tab plating processes. It protects surfaces from splashes and chemical fumes throughout all masking phases. Buyers needing a tape for general packaging or non-industrial bonding should look at something else.

72-Yard Roll on 3-Inch Core

The 72-yard length on a 3-inch plastic core provides extended runs for continuous production line use. The thin polyester film conforms to irregular board topography without tearing. Headroom ends when the roll is exhausted or when an application demands a thicker insulating barrier.

Questions about this item

What surface must already be clean and dry for the SPT-3M tape to adhere properly?

The tape bonds best to a clean, dry printed-circuit-board surface or metal plating rack free of oils, dust, or flux residue before masking begins.

Will the 72-yard roll fit the 3-inch core on my existing hand-held dispenser?

Yes, the roll is wound on a standard 3-inch plastic core, so it mounts on any dispenser or bench holder made for that core size.

How can I confirm the tape is performing as intended during a plating run?

After the cycle, the tape should peel off in one piece without splitting, leave minimal adhesive residue, and show no chemical attack from the plating bath.
