What the MS2-100 tests

The Fluke Networks MS2-100 is a next-generation MicroScanner built for cable technicians who verify voice, data and video installations. It identifies available services such as 10/100/1000 Ethernet, POTS and PoE voltage while also measuring cable length, wire map, cable ID and distance to fault. All results appear on a single oversized backlit screen for immediate reading. This tool replaces several separate instruments by handling RJ11, RJ45 and coax F connectors without adapters.

How it fits in a toolkit

The tester consolidates multiple functions so technicians carry one device instead of separate length meters, wire-map checkers and service detectors. Its built-in Intellitone digital and analog toning locates cables and wire pairs precisely, even on live networks, removing the need for a separate toner and probe. An ergonomic rubber over-mould improves grip and ruggedness for daily field use, and the included carry case keeps the unit protected during transport.

Thermals noise and power

The MS2-100 is a handheld, battery-operated instrument with no moving parts, so it produces no audible fan noise and adds negligible heat to the work environment. Power draw is limited to the internal batteries during active testing sessions, and the backlit display remains readable in low-light conditions without generating noticeable warmth. This silent, low-power operation suits both occupied offices and quiet data-centre aisles.
