15 ft Cat 8 patch cable

This 15 ft Cat 8 patch cable uses four twisted pairs of 24 AWG stranded pure copper conductors. Each pair is individually foil shielded and the bundle is wrapped in an overall braid shield beneath a blue PVC jacket. RJ45 plugs with 50 micron gold plated contacts terminate both ends. It is built for installers and network managers who need a shielded Category 8 link up to fifteen feet long.

40 Gbps limit on short runs

The cable is rated for up to 2,000 MHz bandwidth and 40 Gbps data rate, but the Category 8 standard only guarantees those speeds over channels up to thirty metres. At fifteen feet the distance is well within that limit, yet any longer permanent link would require a lower category or fibre. Backward compatibility with Cat 5e, Cat 6, Cat 6A and Cat 7 equipment is supported.

Shielded construction decides fit

The S/FTP shielding structure — foil around each pair plus an overall braid — determines whether this cable fits the installation. It adds thickness and reduces flexibility compared with unshielded designs, so it suits environments with strong electromagnetic interference but may be harder to route through tight cable management channels.
