Emergency Radio with NOAA and Bluetooth

The garinosen DF-580 is a portable emergency radio that receives digital AM, FM and seven NOAA weather channels. It includes a 7 W Bluetooth speaker, a 3 W flashlight, a foldable reading lamp and an SOS alert audible to 200 M. A 5000 mAh lithium-polymer battery powers the unit and can charge phones via USB.

Suits outdoor and emergency preparedness

Campers, hikers and households building a survival kit gain weather alerts, light and backup phone charging in one IPX5 water-resistant housing. Users who need two-way communication, a larger solar array or a higher-capacity power bank for multiple devices should look at other equipment.

Check power and mounting needs

The radio recharges by hand crank, solar panel, USB cable (included) or the internal battery, with a full USB charge taking 3.5 H. Verify that the 6.5 in by 1.8 in by 3.0 in footprint fits your pack or storage space and that the supplied carabiner suits your attachment points.

Questions about this item

What power sources can I use to charge the DF-580's 5000mAh battery before first use?

The internal lithium polymer battery accepts USB charging via the included cable, the built-in solar panel, or the hand crank; a full USB charge takes 3.5 hours.

Will the IPX5-rated DF-580 survive rain if I keep using my older non-waterproof radio alongside it?

Yes, the IPX5 rating means the DF-580 withstands water jets from any direction, so rain or splashes will not damage it while your older radio stays under cover.

How do I confirm the DF-580 is receiving NOAA alerts on the 162.400 to 162.550 MHz channels after setup?

Press the auto-scan button; the LCD will display each of the seven NOAA frequencies as they are found and stored, and the SOS alert tone will sound at the 200-metre range when a warning is broadcast.
