Two-Port USB 2.0 KVM Switch

The GCROWN GUB231 lets two computers share a single USB printer or multifunction device. It connects each workstation through standard USB 2.0 ports and requires no external power supply. A push button on the unit provides manual switching, while optional software enables automatic switching when a print job is sent. A switch-lock function prevents unauthorised changes during active data transfer.

USB 2.0 bandwidth and peripheral support

The switch handles USB 2.0 data rates up to 480 Mbps and remains backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices. It comfortably manages printers, scanners and external hard drives that operate within this bandwidth. Devices requiring higher throughput or dedicated host controllers will exceed the available headroom and are not supported.

Manual and automatic switching modes

The defining specification is the choice between pressing the front button or installing the automatic switching software. Buyers who need hardware-only control without driver installation should use the manual mode. Environments that demand hands-free operation must deploy the software on each connected computer.

Questions about this item

Will the GUB231 work with my older USB 1.1 printer and a newer USB 2.0 computer?

Yes, the switch supports USB 2.0 at up to 480Mbps and is backward compatible with USB 1.1 devices, so both your printer and computer will connect without issues.

How can I confirm the GUB231 has switched to the correct workstation after I press the button?

The LEDs on the device indicate which port is active, letting you verify the selected workstation at a glance.

Does the GUB231 include the two USB cables for my computers, or do I buy them separately?

The package contains the switch unit only; you will need to provide two USB cables to connect your workstations and one cable for the shared printer.
