Outdoor IP44 speaker pair

The Gemini DOS-B32W8 is a pair of passive outdoor speakers rated IP44 for water resistance. Each unit uses a 3.5 inch polypropylene woofer and a 0.5 inch mylar dome tweeter. They are designed for patio, poolside or garage installations where wired audio is required.

Passive design requires amplifier

These speakers have no built-in amplification and ship without an amplifier or power cord. You must connect them to a compatible external amplifier using speaker cable. The built-in crossover protects the drivers from high-power signals, and dual bass-reflex vents extend low-frequency response down to 120 Hz.

Check amplifier impedance and wiring

The nominal impedance is 4 ohms, so verify your amplifier supports this load. Ensure you have suitable speaker cable for the planned run and a mounting surface for the included brackets. The speakers can be oriented vertically or horizontally, but they need a wired connection to an amplifier placed in a dry location.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5 inch polypropylene woofer or 0.5 inch mylar tweeter need replacement after years of outdoor exposure?

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water and solid particles, while the ABS cabinet resists UV and corrosion; drivers are sealed behind the grille and typically last the speaker's lifetime without service.

What limits output first during a long garden party — the 50 watt power handling or the 87 dB sensitivity?

The 50 watt continuous rating is the hard ceiling; with 87 dB sensitivity the speakers reach loud levels well before that limit, so sustained high-volume use stays within thermal capacity.

How warm do the cabinets get and is there any fan or amplifier noise when they run all day on a patio?

Passive design means zero internal electronics — no fan, no amplifier hiss. The ABS enclosure and crossover dissipate heat passively, so cabinets stay near ambient temperature even after hours of playback.
