Connects 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives to USB 3.0 at 5Gbps with UASP, includes DC power port for 3.5" drives
This GENERIC CAB301 adapter cable lets you attach a bare 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drive or SSD to a computer through a USB 3.0 port. It supports UASP acceleration for faster SSD transfers and works with Windows, Mac and Linux without installing drivers. No drive enclosure is required.
3.5" hard drives must use a separate 12V 2A DC power adapter with a 5.5 × 2.5 mm plug, which is not included. 2.5" drives and SSDs draw power from the USB port, but USB 2.0 ports limited to 500mA may not start larger or older 2.5" drives reliably. A USB 3.0 port supplying up to 900mA is recommended for those drives.
The black male-to-male cable uses copper conductors for a 5Gbps link. A dedicated DC power jack sits on the adapter for 3.5" drive operation. The plug-and-play design means you simply connect the SATA drive, attach power if needed, and insert the USB plug to access data immediately.

The package contains the SATA-to-USB 3.0 cable with a DC power port. A 12 V / 2 A power supply with a 5.5 × 2.5 mm plug must be provided separately for 3.5" HDDs.
2.5" SSDs and HDDs run from the USB 3.0 port alone. 3.5" HDDs require the DC port with a 12 V / 2 A adapter; USB 2.0 ports cannot supply enough current.
The link runs at up to 5 Gbps with UASP acceleration, so SSD transfers approach the drive's own SATA limit instead of being capped at USB 2.0 speeds.
