What this card is and who it is for

This Gigastone 64GB SDXC card is rated UHS-I U3 V30 A1 with read speeds up to 100MB/s and write speeds up to 40MB/s. It is built for digital point-and-shoot cameras, HD camcorders, DSLRs and PCs that accept SDXC media. The card is waterproof, temperature-proof, x-ray-proof, shock-proof and magnetic-proof, and it ships with a mini case.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

Photographers and videographers capturing 4K Ultra HD footage or burst stills on SDXC-compatible bodies will find the sustained write performance adequate. Buyers who need higher sustained write speeds for high-bitrate cinema codecs, larger capacities than 64GB, or UHS-II bus performance should consider other options.

The specification that decides fit

The V30 speed class guarantees a minimum sequential write of 30MB/s, which is the key figure for verifying that the card can sustain 4K video recording on your specific camera.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 64GB SDXC card in my camera, and what step do people often miss?

Insert the card label-side up until it clicks; the step many miss is formatting it in the camera menu before first use so the file system matches the device.

What maintenance or replacement will the V30 UHS-I card need later?

No scheduled maintenance is required; replace the card if write errors appear or after heavy 4K video use wears the NAND beyond its endurance.

What limit shows up first during sustained 4K recording on this 100MB/s read card?

The 40MB/s maximum write speed is the first bottleneck during continuous 4K capture, not the 100MB/s read rate.
