Converts a PCIe 4.0 x4 slot to an M.2 Key M NVMe slot with included heatsink for 2230 to 2280 drives
This adapter converts a PCIe X4, X8 or X16 slot into an M.2 Key M socket for NVMe solid-state drives. It accepts 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors and is aimed at desktop builders who need to add fast NVMe storage to a board without a native M.2 slot. The included heatsink helps keep drive temperatures lower during sustained workloads.
The card replaces a SATA SSD or a mechanical drive by letting you install a PCIe NVMe drive directly in a motherboard expansion slot. The performance jump is worthwhile when the CPU, motherboard slot and SSD all support PCIe 4.0, delivering up to 64 Gbps bandwidth; on older platforms the card falls back to PCIe 3.0 or 2.0 speeds. It does not support M.2 SATA drives, so buyers with SATA-only modules must choose a different adapter.
Installation is plug-and-play on Windows 10, 11, Linux and Mac OS; Windows 7 is not supported. The new SSD must be initialised and formatted in the operating system before it appears. Some older motherboards cannot boot from an NVMe drive added through a PCIe adapter, so the drive may be limited to data storage unless the firmware supports NVMe boot. The heatsink attaches with supplied thermal pads and screws.

Yes, it installs in any PCIe X4, X8 or X16 lane slot and converts it to an M.2 Key M socket for 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 NVMe SSDs.
Forgetting to remove the protective film from the thermal pad before placing the heatsink on the SSD, which blocks heat transfer.
No, the PA09-HS has no firmware and draws 3.3 V power directly from the PCIe bus, so it requires no maintenance or scheduled replacement.
