What the CSic84 speaker set is and who it is for

The Acoustic Audio CSic84 is a pack of eight frameless in-ceiling speakers built for whole-home audio or multi-room home-theatre systems. Each unit uses a three-way design with an 8-inch poly-cone woofer, a Mylar midrange and a half-inch Mylar tweeter driven by a passive crossover. The flush-mount housings and magnetic paintable grilles suit installers who want a clean ceiling line without visible hardware.

What to check on your existing setup before ordering

You need a home audio receiver or amplifier with raw speaker-wire outputs that can deliver between 10 and 350 watts per channel into an 8-ohm load. The ceiling must accommodate a round cut-out of 10.16 inches and provide at least 4.06 inches of mounting depth behind the drywall. CL3-rated in-wall speaker wire is required for code-compliant connections to the spring-loaded terminals.

What this replaces or upgrades

The CSic84 replaces older single-driver or two-way in-ceiling models that cannot reproduce the 40 Hz to 20 kHz bandwidth these three-way units cover at 95 dB sensitivity. The upgrade is worthwhile when you want fuller bass, clearer dialogue from the dedicated midrange, and a frameless look that blends into painted ceilings without the flange of conventional speakers.

Questions about this item

What comes in the CSic84 4-pair pack and what must I buy separately?

The pack includes four pairs of frameless in-ceiling speakers with paintable magnetic grilles and the Pressure Lock mounting clamps built in. You must supply your own CL3-rated in-wall speaker wire and a receiver or amplifier with raw speaker outputs.

How do I choose between the different versions or capacities of this speaker?

The CSic84 is offered only as an 8-inch 3-way model in this 4-pair pack; there are no alternative driver sizes, configurations or single-pair options listed for this product.

What does the 95 dB sensitivity rating mean when the speakers are driven by my receiver?

At 8 ohms, 95 dB indicates high efficiency, so the speakers will play loudly with modest power. Your amplifier should deliver between 10 and 350 watts per channel to stay within the recommended range.
