HP 306641-002 Ultra320 SCSI Drive

The HP 306641-002 is a 36.4Gb hard drive with a 15000Rpm spindle speed and an 80Pin Ultra320 SCSI interface. It uses a 3.5Inch form factor with a 1.0Inch height and includes a tray for hot pluggable installation. This drive is built for enterprise storage systems that require this specific legacy interface and physical format.

Suits maintainers of Ultra320 SCSI arrays

This drive suits administrators replacing a failed unit in an existing 80Pin Ultra320 SCSI enclosure where hot pluggable 3.5Inch trays are standard. It is not for buyers who need larger capacities than 36.4Gb or faster spindle speeds than 15000Rpm. It is also not for systems that lack an Ultra320 SCSI backplane or the correct 80Pin connector.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5-inch 80-pin Ultra320 SCSI drive fit in my existing hot-swap backplane?

The drive uses the standard 3.5-inch form factor with an 80-pin SCA connector and 1.0-inch height, matching most Ultra320 hot-swap backplanes.

How can I confirm the 15000 RPM spindle is running correctly after installation?

The drive should spin up quietly to 15000 RPM, be recognised by the SCSI controller at 320 MB/s, and show 36.4 GB capacity in the BIOS or OS disk utility.
