800 GB SAS 12 Gbps internal SSD

The HP 797540-001 is an 800 GB solid-state drive with a SAS 12 Gbps interface in a 3.5-inch form factor. It is built for servers and storage arrays that require consistent read and write performance. The drive suits administrators who need reliable flash capacity for mixed workloads.

Replaces slower SAS hard drives in 3.5-inch bays

Swapping mechanical disks for this SSD removes rotational latency and improves response times for database and virtualisation tasks. The upgrade is worth it when the existing SAS backplane supports 12 Gbps and the workload benefits from sustained flash throughput. Buyers who need a different interface or a smaller form factor should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

Will the 3.5-inch form factor fit my server drive bay?

The drive uses a standard 3.5-inch form factor so it fits any bay built for that size.

What is the correct way to connect the SAS 12Gbps interface?

Attach the SAS cable to the drive connector and the controller port then secure the drive with screws.
