HP DesignJet T1600 PostScript 36" inkjet printer (3EK11A#B1K)

HP DesignJet T1600 36-inch PostScript Printer

The HP DesignJet T1600 is a 36-inch large-format inkjet printer built for technical teams producing CAD drawings, GIS maps and presentation graphics. It includes an Adobe PostScript 3 RIP and the Adobe PDF Print Engine for direct, driverless PDF output. The unit suits architects, engineers and print-service providers who need reliable monochrome and colour output up to 36 inches wide.

Print resolution limits and media handling

Maximum optimised resolution is 2400 x 1200 dpi for both black and colour, which determines the finest line weight and smallest text size the engine can reproduce. The printer accepts roll media up to 36 inches wide and includes an integrated automatic stacker for unattended multi-page jobs. Throughput is governed by the internal processing speed of the PostScript RIP and the mechanical limits of the inkjet carriage.

Installation and common setup issues

The printer ships as a single 1600-series chassis requiring a level floor space and a standard mains connection; network integration is handled through the embedded HP Jetdirect interface and the HP Smart app for mobile submission. Typical problems involve incorrect media-profile selection causing banding or colour shift, and firewall rules blocking the secure printing ports needed for the encrypted job stream. Regular printhead alignment and firmware updates prevent most drift and connectivity faults.
