36-inch dual-roll PostScript printer

The HP DesignJet T1600dr is a 36-inch large-format inkjet printer built for AEC, GIS and MCAD professionals who produce maps, technical drawings, posters and renders. It prints colour output at 2400 x 1200 dpi with speeds up to 3 ppm for both monochrome and colour jobs. The dual-roll capacity lets you keep two media rolls loaded simultaneously.

Dual-roll capacity and PDF workflow

Two roll holders mean you can switch between paper types or sizes without manual reloading, keeping print queues moving during tight deadlines. The printer includes Adobe PostScript support for direct PDF printing, so files render accurately without extra driver steps. Dynamic security restricts operation to cartridges with an original HP chip; third-party chips may fail now or after future firmware updates.

Compact frame with network setup

The unit is designed as the most compact and quiet model in its class, allowing it to fit in space-constrained studios. Network connectivity enables shared access across a workgroup, and the embedded web server simplifies initial configuration. Buyers who need roll-fed media wider than 36 inches or who require third-party ink compatibility should consider other solutions.

Questions about this item

How often will the dual-roll ink cartridges need replacing on the HP DesignJet T1600dr?

The printer holds two rolls and prints up to 3 ppm in both mono and colour, so cartridge life depends on your page volume and coverage rather than a fixed schedule.

What limits continuous output on the 36-inch DesignJet T1600dr during long print runs?

The rated speed of 3 pages per minute for both mono and colour is the throughput ceiling; the dual-roll capacity lets you switch media without stopping the job.

How much noise and heat does the HP DesignJet T1600dr produce when running all day?

The supplier describes it as the most compact, quiet printer in its class, designed for office environments where low acoustic levels matter during extended use.
