Business laptop with touchscreen

The HP EliteBook 840 is a 14.0 inch business laptop running Windows 11 Pro. It uses an Intel Ultra 5 125U processor with 12 cores and 14 threads, reaching 4.3 GHz turbo frequency. Integrated Intel Graphics handle the 1920x1200 IPS touchscreen display.

Suited for mobile professionals.

This configuration suits professionals who need a portable device with a responsive touchscreen and fast connectivity via two Thunderbolt 4 ports and Wi-Fi 6E. The 16GB DDR5 memory and 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD support everyday multitasking. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for rendering or gaming should look at a different class of machine.

16GB DDR5 memory is soldered and not upgradeable

The single specification that decides fit is the 16GB DDR5 SO-DIMM configuration. This capacity is fixed at purchase, so users who anticipate needing more memory for virtual machines or large datasets must choose a model that offers higher capacity or user-accessible slots.

Questions about this item

Does the 3-cell 56 WHr battery and 65W Type-C adapter keep the Ultra 5 125U cool during all-day workloads?

The 56 WHr battery and 65W USB-C power supply support the 12-core Ultra 5 125U at up to 4.3 GHz; fan behaviour varies with sustained load and ambient temperature.

Which peripherals must I already own to use the two Thunderbolt 4 ports and Wi-Fi 6E AX211?

Thunderbolt 4 cables or docks and a Wi-Fi 6E-capable router are required to use those interfaces; the laptop also includes a headset combo jack.

Can the 14.0-inch 1920x1200 touchscreen and Intel Graphics drive a legacy VGA projector alongside the internal panel?

The integrated Intel Graphics can mirror or extend to external displays via Thunderbolt 4; a USB-C-to-VGA adapter is needed for VGA projectors.
