HP EliteBook 840 G3 business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 is a 14.0-inch business laptop with a full-HD display. It ships without an operating system so the buyer can install their preferred platform. The dual-core Intel Core i5-6200U processor runs at 2.30 GHz and reaches 2.80 GHz turbo. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles everyday visual tasks.

8 GB DDR3 memory and 240 GB NVMe SSD

Two memory slots support up to 32 GB of DDR3 RAM for future expansion. The factory-fitted 240 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD provides fast boot and application loading. Storage headroom is limited to this single drive; users needing large local libraries will require external or cloud storage. The 8 GB standard memory suits office multitasking but leaves little margin for heavy virtualisation.

No operating system included

The laptop arrives with no operating system installed. The buyer must acquire and install Windows, Linux or another OS before the machine is usable. This makes the unit unsuitable for anyone who expects an out-of-the-box experience. All other hardware is ready for immediate configuration once the OS is added.

Questions about this item

Will the 240GB NVMe drive and 8GB DDR3 memory work with my existing EliteBook 840 G3 docking station?

The M.2 NVMe SSD and DDR3 modules use the same interfaces as the original EliteBook 840 G3 components, so they are electrically compatible with the laptop and its docking station.

How can I verify the i5-6200U is hitting its 2.80 GHz turbo and the Intel HD Graphics 520 is active after I install an OS?

Open Task Manager or a hardware monitor after OS install; the CPU should show speeds up to 2.80 GHz under load and the GPU listed as Intel HD Graphics 520.

Does the box include a power adapter and the 240GB NVMe SSD already installed, or do I need to buy them separately?

The 240GB NVMe SSD comes factory-installed; a compatible HP power adapter is included in the box.
