Ready-to-use business laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G3 ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit installed and an Intel Core i5-6300U processor running at 2.40 GHz. Eight gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB M.2 SSD provide quick boot times and responsive multitasking for office applications. The 14.0 inch non-touch display keeps the chassis compact for daily carry.

Expansion headroom inside

Two SODIMM slots accept up to 16 GB total, so a single module swap doubles the memory without discarding the original stick. The M.2 B+M slot supports a larger solid-state drive when project files outgrow the factory 256 GB. An included AC adapter and integrated audio ports cover power and sound without extra dongles.

Step up from mechanical storage

Replacing a spinning hard drive with this SSD eliminates drive noise and cuts application load times dramatically. The 6th generation Core i5 handles typical productivity workloads, but buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics should look elsewhere. Battery life under three hours also limits all-day unplugged use.

Questions about this item

How long will the battery last under a full day of work?

The supplied battery provides under three hours of run time, so expect to stay near a power outlet for extended sessions.

How hot or loud does the EliteBook 840 G3 get during continuous use?

The integrated graphics and 2.40 GHz Core i5-6300U run on passive cooling for light tasks; sustained loads spin the internal fan and warm the chassis noticeably.

What memory and storage upgrades can I add myself?

The laptop accepts DDR4 SODIMM up to 16 GB total and uses an M.2 B+M 256 GB SSD that can be swapped for a larger drive.
