Business-ready 14-inch laptop

The HP EliteBook 840 G4 is a 14.0-inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-7300U dual-core processor at 2.6 GHz with 8 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB M.2 SATA SSD. It runs Windows 10 Home and includes a 1366 x 768 HD LED display, Intel HD Graphics 620, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, a webcam, VGA, full-size DisplayPort, two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 3.1 Type-C port. A SIM card reader is also fitted.

Upgrading from older ultraportables

This model replaces earlier 14-inch business notebooks that used slower dual-core CPUs, mechanical hard drives or lower-resolution screens. The jump is worth it when you need the responsiveness of a SATA SSD, the modern connectivity of USB Type-C and DisplayPort, and the multi-tasking headroom of 8 GB DDR4 memory in a chassis built for daily office mobility.

Straightforward deployment

The laptop arrives with charger and battery included; Windows 10 Home is pre-installed and a Microsoft Windows 11 Pro upgrade path is noted by the supplier. Typical setup issues are limited to driver updates for the Intel HD 620 graphics or the wireless adapter, and verifying that the SIM slot is enabled in BIOS for mobile broadband use.
