14-inch business laptop with i7-8665U

The HP EliteBook 840 G6 is a 14-inch laptop built for professionals who need a compact Windows 11 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i7-8665U quad-core processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 256 GB NVMe SSD. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display uses LED backlighting and integrated Intel UHD Graphics.

Upgrade from dual-core or spinning-drive systems

This unit replaces older ultraportables limited to two cores or mechanical storage. The jump is worth it when workloads involve multitasking across Office apps, browser tabs and light VMs while the NVMe drive keeps boot and application launches snappy. Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI simplify dock and projector connections.

Sustained performance under 15 W envelope

The 15 W processor maintains clocks for typical business bursts but will throttle during prolonged heavy compute such as video encoding or large dataset crunching. Shared graphics memory limits GPU-intensive tasks. Thermals stay manageable in office ambient temperatures, though fan noise rises under continuous load.
