HP EliteBook 850 G2 laptop

This 15.6 inch laptop uses an Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor running at 2.20 GHz with a turbo frequency of 2.70 GHz. It includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 2TB SATA SSD. The HD display has a 1366 x 768 resolution driven by Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Suits users needing a large 2TB drive on a 15.6

Buyers who need a pre-installed operating system should look elsewhere. The unit ships without any OS, so the owner must supply and install Windows or Linux independently. Users wanting a touchscreen or a display sharper than 1366 x 768 will not be satisfied. Memory can be expanded to 16 GB across two slots.

No operating system included

The single specification that decides fit is the absence of any operating system. The buyer is responsible for acquiring and installing their own version of Windows or another OS before the laptop can be used. This requirement applies regardless of the 2TB SSD capacity or the Intel Core i5-5200U processor.

Questions about this item

What operating system do I need to install before the EliteBook 850 G2 will boot?

The laptop ships with no operating system, so you must provide and install your own copy of Windows or another OS before it will start up.

Can I keep using my existing DDR3 SO-DIMM modules to reach the 16 GB maximum?

Yes, the system has two DDR3 slots supporting up to 16 GB total, so compatible modules you already own can be added alongside the installed 8 GB.

How can I verify the new 2 TB SSD is recognised at full capacity after installation?

Enter the BIOS or your OS disk utility and confirm the drive shows 2 TB on the SATA interface.
