Thin-client notebook for cloud and local work

This HP MT21 thin client runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise on a 14-inch HD display. The dual-core Intel Celeron 3865U at 1.80GHz pairs with 16GB of DDR4 2400 memory. Storage combines a 128GB NVMe SSD with a 1TB hard drive. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 610 drives the 1366 x 768 panel and external screens via HDMI, VGA and DisplayPort over USB-C.

Suits managed desktops, not heavy local compute

The system targets organisations that stream apps from VMware, Citrix or Microsoft virtual desktops. It also works as a standalone kiosk or point-of-sale device with LAN, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Buyers who need discrete graphics, a touchscreen or a higher-resolution panel should look at something else.

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise decides the use case

This edition includes the same management and security features as Windows 10 Enterprise. It lets the notebook join domains, apply group policies and run unified write filters for locked-down deployments. Without this OS the device would not support the intended thin-client workflows.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 128GB NVMe SSD or the 1TB HDD for my main drive?

The 128GB NVMe SSD is the boot drive for fast Windows 10 IoT Enterprise start-up. The 1TB HDD adds bulk storage for large files and archives.

What does the Celeron 3865U 1.80GHz actually deliver in daily use?

The dual-core 1.80GHz chip with Intel HD Graphics 610 handles web apps, terminal sessions and office documents. It is built for cloud or VDI workloads, not heavy local compute.

Does the USB-C port carry DisplayPort video, and what resolution can it drive?

Yes, the USB-C supports DisplayPort alternate mode. It can drive an external monitor up to the panel's native 1366 x 768 or higher, depending on the display.
