  • Plug-in card form factor enables easy installation
  • Designed specifically for server environments

HPE 361T Gigabit Ethernet Card

The HPE 361T is a dual-port Gigabit Ethernet card that installs in a PCI Express x4 slot. It provides two RJ-45 ports for twisted-pair cabling and supports 10/100/1000Base-T speeds. The plug-in card form factor is designed for server environments.

Server admins needing dual copper links

This card suits administrators adding two wired network connections to a server through a single PCIe x4 slot. It does not suit builds that require fiber connectivity or more than two ports. Buyers needing external USB ports should look elsewhere as this card has none.

PCI Express x4 host interface

The card connects to the host system through a PCI Express x4 interface, which determines slot compatibility and available bandwidth. Verify that your server has a free x4 or larger slot before purchase. The interface also defines the maximum throughput available to the two Gigabit ports.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 361T with its two RJ-45 ports or a single-port alternative?

The 361T provides two Gigabit RJ-45 ports on one PCIe x4 card, letting you add dual-network connectivity to a server without using a second slot.

What does the 10/100/1000Base-T rating deliver in a live server?

Each port negotiates at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps over twisted-pair cable, so the card handles legacy 10 Mbps links, Fast Ethernet and full Gigabit throughput on the same interface.

How does the PCI Express x4 host interface affect real-world bandwidth?

The x4 electrical connection supplies ample headroom for two simultaneous Gigabit streams, so the bus does not become the bottleneck when both ports run at 1000 Mbps.
