Adds eight 10-GbE SFP+ ports to compatible HP E5400/E8200 series zl switches
The HPE Aruba J9538A adds eight 10-GbE SFP+ ports to compatible HP E5400 and E8200 series zl switches. It targets network administrators expanding high-speed aggregation or uplink capacity in campus or data-centre cores.
The module slides into an open zl slot without powering down the chassis, using the 10.3 x 8.13 x 1.75 in footprint. Eight SFP+ cages accept standard transceivers for fibre or direct-attach copper, letting cabling choices match link distance and budget.
Replaces older 1-GbE uplink modules when 10-GbE bandwidth is needed for server farms, storage clusters or inter-switch trunks. The jump is worth it when existing SFP+ optics are already stocked or when new 10-GbE links are cheaper than adding more 1-GbE ports.

Each of the eight SFP+ ports runs at 10 Gb/s line rate, so the module caps at 10 Gb/s per port with no oversubscription.
The module measures 10.3 x 8.13 x 1.75 in (H x W x D) and slides into a standard zl module slot in those chassis series.
Power off the chassis, slide the module into an empty zl slot until the ejector levers latch, then insert compatible SFP+ transceivers and cables — skipping the transceiver step leaves ports dark.
