  • Passive copper design needs no external power
  • Validated with Aruba 8320 and 8400 switch series

10G SFP+ Direct Attach Cable

This 3.28 ft SFP+ to SFP+ direct attach cable provides a 10 Gbit/s link between compatible network devices. It is built for short reach connections inside a rack or between adjacent racks. The passive copper assembly requires no separate transceivers or fibre patch cords.

Suits Aruba 8320 and 8400 switches.

The cable is qualified for Aruba 8320 and 8400 switch series and other ports that accept SFP+ direct attach copper. It will not support links beyond its 3.28 ft length, so buyers needing longer distances must use optical transceivers and fibre. It also does not fit SFP28 or QSFP+ ports.

3.28 ft length decides deployment

The fixed 3.28 ft reach is the single specification that determines whether this cable fits the physical layout. Measure the exact port-to-port distance before ordering; any longer span requires a different cable or fibre solution.

Questions about this item

Which switch ports must I already have free to plug in the J9281D?

You need two available SFP+ ports that accept 10 Gbit/s direct-attach cables, one on each end of the 3.28 ft link.

Will the cable work if I connect one end to an Aruba 8320 and the other to an older 10 Gbit/s SFP+ switch?

Yes, the J9281D is a passive SFP+ to SFP+ DAC rated for 10 Gbit/s, so any standards-compliant 10 Gbit/s SFP+ port on either side will establish the link.

How can I confirm the 3.28 ft cable is delivering 10 Gbit/s after I connect it?

Check the switch port status LEDs or run show interface on the Aruba 8320 or 8400; both ends should report 10 Gbit/s full-duplex with no errors.
