A 3.3 ft QSFP28-to-QSFP28 direct attach copper cable carrying 100 Gbit/s for HPE FlexFabric 5930 and 5950 switches
The HPE JL271A X240 is a 100 Gbit/s direct attach copper cable with QSFP28 male connectors on both ends. It is built for data-centre racks linking FlexFabric 5930 and 5950 switches. Network engineers who need a short, passive copper link between compatible HPE ports will use this cable. Buyers who need longer reach or fibre media cannot use this product.
As a passive direct attach copper assembly the cable draws no power and generates no heat of its own. It adds no fan noise to the rack because it contains no active components. The 0.20 lb weight places minimal strain on switch ports during installation. Installers who require active optical transceivers for thermal headroom will not meet that need with this cable.
The cable ships only as the cable assembly itself; no software, drivers or mounting hardware are included. Its value comes from the validated compatibility list covering FlexFabric 5930 2-Slot, 5930-2Slot+2QSFP+, 5930-32QSFP+, 5930-4Slot and 5950 series switches. Teams who expect a configuration utility or firmware bundle will not find one in the package.

Align the male QSFP28 ends with the switch ports, push until the latch clicks, then pull the release tab to confirm it is locked; the step often missed is verifying the latch engagement by gently tugging the cable.
The passive copper assembly has no firmware or active components; replacement is only required if the cable is kinked, the connectors are damaged, or the 100 Gbit/s link fails certification testing.
The thermal limit of the passive copper assembly is reached before any signal integrity limit, so sustained full-rate traffic may require adequate airflow around the switch ports.
